Arnold E. Hall, 85, Hobbies included vegetable gardening, canning, fishing, and motor home camping

Photo of Arnold E. Hall Arnold E. Hall, age 85, of Sheffield Township, passed away on the afternoon of Sunday February 15th, 2015.

Arnie was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps where he held the rank of Corporal upon his discharge from active duty. The recipient of the National Service Defense Medal, he was a member of Amvets Post # 47 and American Legion Post # 30 both of Lorain.

Mr. Hall was a retiree of the United States Steel Corporation where he had been employed for thirty-eight years. His last position was that of a crane man in the rolling mill there. Arnie was a member of United Steelworkers Local 1104.

He was also a member of Lake Erie Lodge # 552 of the Loyal Order of the Moose as well as of St. Lad’s Club. His hobbies included vegetable gardening, canning, fishing, and motor home camping.

Survivors include his wife Gloria (nee Heinzerling), daughters Paulette “Polly” (James)Martin residing in Galveston, Texas, along with Ellen Rebok of Lorain, Karen (Thomas) Dee of Strongsville, and Carol (Scott) Maddox of Huron. He also leaves sons Alan (Alana) Hall of Lorain and Bryan (Betty) Hall of Wake Forest, North Carolina. Additional survivors include ten grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, brothers Elmer (Dorothy) Hall of Lorain, Duane Meade of Sheffield Village, Denver (Sue) Meade of Sheffield Lake, Jim (Luther) Meade residing in Kentucky, and sisters Reba (Alfred) Dorries of Lorain, and Ann (Bob) Sisco of Duncanville, Texas.

Mr. Hall was preceded in death by his son Craig Hall, by his grandson Preston Hall, by his father Ballard Hall, by his mother Stella Hall-Meade (nee Yonts), by his sisters Margaret Hall and Ruby Meade, and by his brothers Donald Ray Meade and Delano Meade.

Visitation will be Friday from 4 until 8 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral chapel with Reverend Danny Parsons presiding. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park where joint military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post # 30 and VFW Post # 451 both of Lorain.
