Thomas J. Maderia, 79, U.S. Navy Veteran

Photo of Thomas J. Maderia Thomas J. Maderia, 79, of Elyria Township, died suddenly on Thursday February 12, 2015 at his home.

He was born February 26, 1935 in Nanty Glo, Pennsylvania and had resided in the Lorain County area most of his life.

Thomas served with the US Navy during the Korean War.

He worked at the Lorain Ford Assembly Plant as a foreman and supervisor before retiring.

Thomas was an active member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Elyria Township. He would open up the church for mass in the morning, served mass and ran the bingo program. He loved his church.

He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and going to their sporting events and spending time with his brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his wife of Marianne Maderia, children Thomas J. Maderia, Jr and Marianne “Missy” Foisy (Dave), grandchildren TJ, Taylor and Rachael Maderia, Mari, Christian, Michaela, Vincent, Elizabeth, Gianna and Karolanne Foisy, sisters Patty Klinar (Richard Haber) and Cecelia “Babe” King and brothers Larry Maderia (Diana) and Patrick Maderia (Carole). He was preceded in death by his parents Patrick & Anna Maderia (nee Tutko), sisters Fran Anderson, Agnes Meyers and Rosie King and brothers Joe and Emery Maderia.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 41295 N Ridge Rd Elyria. A mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1:00 pm. The Rev. Donald Dunson, pastor, will officiate. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain. DAV Chapter #20 of Lorain will conduct military honors.

Arrangements are under the direction of Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain.
