Emma T. Kurjan, 88, She enjoyed listening to talk radio

She was born in Lorain on April 16, 1926 and had been a life-long resident of Lorain County. She graduated from Lorain High School as a member of the Class of 1944-B.
Mrs. Kurjan was employed at Ss. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Loran where she served as housekeeper for thirty-five years.
Her hobbies included sewing, cooking, baking, reading, listening to talk radio, and making strudel with the ladies from the church.
Emma, a loving mother, will be dearly missed by her son John (Paulette) Kurjan of Vermilion and by her
daughter Ruth (William) Bistak of Sheffield Village along with step-grandchildren Paulette Wearsch, Matthew (Tammie) Wearsch, Shaun (Sandra) Johnson, step great-grandchildren Larry, Paul, Madison, and Kara, as well as many dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Mary (nee Sumrada) Jere, by her sisters Mayme Erjavec and Frances Jere, by her brother Frank Fritz Jere, by her son-in-law Paul Wearsch, and by her step-granddaughter Christina Christy Johnson..
Visitation will be Monday from 3 until 7 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain; the St. Frances Altar and Rosary Society will recite the rosary there at 6:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Monday beginning with closing prayers offered in the funeral chapel at 10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. in St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Parish. 2143 Homewood Drive, Lorain; Reverend John C. Retar, pastor of the parish will officiate. Entombment will take place in Calvary Cemetery.
