Alina Jadwiga Davoli, 87, Known for Her Baked Goods

Mrs. Davoli was born on December 16, 1927 in Malinow, Poland. She spent her childhood years there until the Soviet Union invaded Poland in 1939. Her father, a member of the Polish army, was captured, made a prisoner of war, and was taken to a labor camp in Siberia. Shortly afterwards, Soviet troops arrived at her home and gave the family one hour to pack and escorted them to the rail station where they were put on a train bound for Siberia. In 1941, her father was released from the labor camp to join the Polish army in North Africa. Before leaving, he found the camp where his family was being held, secured their release and got them safely to a refugee camp in India where she and her mother and brother spent the rest of the war.
At the end of World War II, she and her family immigrated to England where she met and married her first husband Stanislaw Antosiak. They had two children, Janusz and Anna. In 1960, the family came to the United States and settled in Lorain where her husband found work at Lorain Products. Following his untimely death in 1962, she was offered a job at Lorain Products, where she worked until her retirement 25 years later.
Alina met Joseph A. Davoli, a widower with two daughters, Carolyn and Pamela. They were married on July 20, 1968. She was known for her baked goods; cakes, pastries and tortes. She was a devout Catholic and made pilgrimages to Lourdes, France, Fatima, Portugal, Czestochowa, Poland, and various shrines in the United States.
She was a member of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Parish and the Altar and Rosary Societies both Nativity B.V.M and St. Frances Xavier of Cabrini parishes. She was also a member of the Siberian Society.
She is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Joseph A. Davoli; her brother Tadeusz of Adelaide, Australia, her daughter Anna (Jack) Broz, her step-daughters Carolyn (Bernard) Reisz and Pamela (Gary)Baker; Her grandchildren: Ricky, Rochelle, Kevin, Andrea, Anthony, John, Michael, Eric, Kasia, and Adam; and her great-grandchildren: Xavier, Brandon, Logan, Avery and a great-granddaughter expected in May.
Alina was preceded in death by her parents Leon and Maria (nee Unold) Groblicki, her first husband, Stanislaw Antosiak, and her son Janusz.
Her family will receive friends Friday from 3 to 7 PM in the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain. Her funeral service will be Satur�������day with closing prayers in the funeral home at 10:30 AM., then funeral mass at 11 AM in Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini Parish, 2143 Homewood Dr. (Grove Ave. and Homewood Dr.) Lorain Ohio. Rev. Father John C. Retar, Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst.
