Alpino Velez Soto, 68, Avid Gardener
Alpino Velez Soto, 68, of Lorain, passed away Thursday, January 28, 2016 in E. M. H. Regional Medical Center, Elyria following a lengthy illness.
He was born August 1, 1947 in Lares, Puerto Rico. He came to Lorain in 1964.
Alipio retired from Larson Foundry in Grafton as a Grinder. He worked there for over 20 years. He was avid gardener and took pride in remodeling and maintaining his home.
He will be dearly missed by his step-daughters Juanita Soto Lehota, Anna Marie Soto and Crecensia Soto all of Lorain; step son Ivan Soto of Lorain; brothers Nelson and Julio Velez both of Lorain, Rogelio Velez, Sergio Velez and Eligio Velez of Puerto Rico, Emilio Velez of Florida and David Velez of Chicago; sisters Ana Iris Velez and Minerva Velez both of Chicago and Nelida Velez Puerto Rico; 16 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren and a son “Freddy” Velez.
Alipio was preceded in death by his companion of 37 years Lucy Soto; parents Rogelio Velez Cruz and Maria M. Soto; step daughter Lucinda Garcia.
His family will receive friends Tuesday, February 2nd from 4 until the time of service at 7pm in Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain.
