Norma A. Welter, 96, Enjoyed traveling and fine dining
Norma A. Welter, age 96 of Lorain, died Saturday January 17, 2015 at Amherst Manor Nursing Center. She was born September 20, 1918 in Lorain, and remained a lifelong resident.
Norma worked as a data processing manager for Mid Continent Telephone Co. for 13 years, retiring in 1973. Prior to that she worked at Thew Shovel Co.
She belongs to St. Mary Church in Lorain, and was a volunteer at Community Health Partners Hospital till age 88. She belongs to the Lorain Historical Society, the Data Processing Managers Association, and AARP. She enjoyed playing cards, board games, traveling, and fine dining.
Norma is survived by a nephew Charles Welter of IL, and a niece Gerrie Kopko of IN, and friend and caregiver Diane Sutorus of Vermilion.
She was preceded in death by her parents Peter and Margaret (Kniepper) Welter, brothers William E. and Richard J. Welter, and a sister Mary I. Welter.
Funeral Mass will be Wednesday 10 A.M. at St. Mary Church, 309 Seventh St., Lorain. Fr. Daniel Divis will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made to Lorain County Metroparks Rose Garden Fund, or the American Cancer Society.
