Gillis Hensley, 68, Enjoyed Woodworking and Home Improvement

Photo of Gillis Hensley Gillis Hensley, 68, of Lorain, died Tuesday January 13, 2015 at Mercy New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain after a brief illness.

He was born May 1, 1946 in Barbourville, Kentucky and had resided in Lorain most of his life.

Gillis worked at the Ford Assembly Plant in Lorain on the assembly line and retired in 1983. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, home improvement projects and helping out family and friends with projects in their homes.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years Carol L. Hensley (nee O’Neal), children: Kelly Sines (Terry) of Georgia, Frank Meo (Ronda) of Lorain, Anthony A. Meo (Lisa) of Georgia, Gillis W. Hensley of Springfield, Ohio, Tammy Kidd (Elmer, Jr) of Pennsylvania, Carrie Hensley Linder (Karl) of Lorain and Christina Hensley of Georgia, grandchildren that he raised Brice Godles and Megan Wright, over 40 grandchildren and great grandchildren, 11 sisters and 3 brothers. He was preceded in death by his daughter Kimberly Godles in 2002 and parents Gillis and Odessel Hensley (nee Williams).

The family will receive friends Thursday 4-8 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain where funeral service will be held Friday at 10:00 am. The Rev. Chris Robinson, chaplain of Mercy New Life Hospice, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Township.
