Larry Farley, 74, Proud U.S. Army Veteran
Larry Farley, age 74, of Lorain, passed away Saturday April 21, 2012 at the New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph following an illness of one year.He was born in Belfry, Kentucky on January 3, 1938 and had been a resident of Lorain County since 1960.
Larry was a veteran of the United States Army where he fulfilled duty assignments as an Armor Intelligence Specialist with the 3rd Reconnaissance Squadron, 8th Calvary Division based at Fort Hamilton, New York. He was a life member of Mullen-Murray Post # 451 of the Veterans of Foreign War in Lorain
Mr. Farley was employed as a Supervisor & Analyst in the Parts Department of Ford Motor Company’s Lorain Assembly Plant; he retired in 2002 following a career that spanned 42 years with the automaker.
Regarded as a history enthusiast, Larry enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, as well as vegetable gardening, and home repair. Additional interest included working on automobiles and motorcycles.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years Laura (nee Molnar), by his son David of Lorain, by his daughter Lisa(Ron) Ehman of Amherst by grandson Nikolas Ehman, by granddaughter Emily Ehman, and by his sister-in-law Linda Edwards.
He was preceded in death by his father Malcom Farley in 1981 and by his mother Helen (nee Hunt) Farley in 2006.
Visitation will be Thursday April 26th from 5:00 p.m. until time of funeral services at 8:00 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Reverend Bob Daugherty will officiate.
