Anthony Godles, 78, Avid Bowler
Anthony Godles, age 78, of Lorain, died Wednesday March 16, 2005 at Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center following a short illness.He was born January 12, 1927 in Lorain, Ohio and had been a life-long resident of the city.
A parishioner of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Lorain, Tony was formerly employed by the Nelson Stud Welding Division of TRW Corporation. He began his career with the company as a clerk in the shipping department and retired from the receiving division of the company in 1986 following a career that spanned thirty-five years.
He was an avid bowler who previously participated in league competition throughout the area. A member of the Machinists and Aerospace Workers’ Union, his favorite past time was spending time with his grandchildren.
Mr. Godles is survived by his son: Jeffrey J. Godles of Sullivan, daughters: Catherine L. Zehel and Joyce A. Miller both of Lorain, six grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and by brothers: Joseph Godles of Lorain, John Godles of Avon, Walter Godles of Elyria, Donald Horvath and Joseph Horvath both of Lorain, and Raymond Horvath of Lynnhaven, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Doris (nee Gove) in August of 2004, by his father: Antoni Godles, by his mother: Anna (nee Tomaszewski) Godles-Horvath, by a sister: Margaret Velemirovich as well as a brother: John Horvath.
Visitation will be Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel 3224 Broadway Avenue Lorain. Funeral services will be Saturday beginning at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel and will be followed by the celebration of his funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. in Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church 1454 Lexington Avenue Lorain. The Reverend Robert Glepko, pastor of Nativity parish and Reverend Mr. Robert Dybo, permanent deacon of the church will co-officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park Amherst Township.
