John A. Repko, 78, Retired Lorain Police Lieutenant

Photo of John A. Repko John A. Repko, 78, of Lorain, died Monday March 7, 2005 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain.

He was born June 13, 1926 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.

John was a graduate of the Lorain High School class of 1944 A and served with the US Army Air Corps during World War II.

John worked as a Lorain Police Officer for 30 years retiring in 1981 as a Lieutenant.

He was a member of the former St. Michael Byzantine Rite Catholic Church in Lorain, a life member of the American Slovak Club and a life member of the Lorain Elks Lodge. He enjoyed bowling.

He is survived by his daughter Karen Kovacs of Sheffield Lake, son John D. Repko of Wellington, daughter Leslie Sage of Lorain, 8 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Lillian (nee Feightner) in 1996, parents John A. & Elizabeth (nee Cottle) Repko and brother William Pratt.

The family will receive friends Wednesday 4-8 PM at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain where funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain where the Disabled American Veterans Louis Paul Proy Chapter #20 of Lorain will conduct military honors.
