George J. Klein, Sr., 83, General Motors Retiree, WWII Veteran

George was a lifelong resident of Lorain County and served with the US Navy during World War II. He was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Medal, World War II Victory Medal, American Area Medal and was a wearer of the Amphibious Forces Insignia.

George was employed by American Ship Building, National Tube and retired from General Motors as a manager.

He is survived by his sister Mary Ellen Breznai of Avon Lake, daughter Sharon West of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, daughter Paula Klein of Rapid City, South Dakota, son George Klein of Orange Park, Florida, daughter Barbara Klein of Asheville, North Carolina and son Gerald Klein of Elyria, 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Paula Klein in 1964 and son James Klein in 2003.

The family will receive friends Sunday, March 6, 2005, from 7-9 PM at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain where funeral services will be held Monday at 10:30 AM. The Rev. David Novak, pastor of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Lorain, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain where the Amherst Veterans Military Honor Guard will conduct military honors.
