Wayne Ira Mennell, 84, Farmer
Wayne Ira Mennell, age 84, of Grafton Twp. passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2005, morning in Medina General Hospital after a short illness.He was born Monday, March 22, 1920 on the family farm in Grafton Twp., and lived and worked there all his life.
Mr. Mennell was a full time farmer all his life, and until recently enjoyed helping his son continue with the family tradition until becoming ill the last couple weeks. He was a member of the Lorain County Farm Bureau. Mr. Mennell served in the U.S. Army during WWII serving in Korea, working in the post office.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and many outdoor activities.
He is survived by 1 Daughter Jane Ziegler of Medina, 3 Sons John Mennell of Grafton Twp., Jim Mennell of Grafton Twp., Jay Mennell of Spencer, Ohio, 2 Grand children
3 Sisters Berneata Gest of Grafton, Ohio, Marian Weigel of Grafton, Ohio, Theda Baron of Lodi, Ohio, 1 Brother Richard Mennell of West Salem.
He is proceeded in death by his wife Julia in 1998, his parents Treva & Louis Mennell, 2 Brothers Corwin & Willard, 1 Sister Ada Ruth.
Friends may call in the Blackburn-Duke Funeral Home 1021 Main St. Friday, March 4, 2005, from 6:00 - 9:00 pm with funeral services in the funeral home Saturday at 10:30am with Rev. James Cake pastor of Belden United Methodist Church officiate. Burial will be in Belden Cemetery, Grafton Twp.
