Vivian E. (nee Schmidt) Carter, 89 of Lorain died on Saturday, February 26, 2005, at Adult Care By Sandy with additional care by the New Life Hospice.Mrs. Carter was born on December 9, 1915, in Lorain, OH and lived in this area all her life. She was a member of the Episcopal Church Of The Redeemer.
She did outreach work at her church and volunteered with the Lorain Co-Operative Ministries. She had been a girl scout leader and volunteered with the American Red Cross. She also did crafts with residents of both Amherst Manor and the Oak Hill Nursing homes.
Mrs. Carter was a member of the Elrey Grotto and the Queen City Chapter of Eastern Star.
She loved to read and watch ice skating, collected angels and enjoyed camping and knitting.
Mrs. Carter is survived by her two daughters, Kathi J. Galant and Donna A Garcia both of Lorain and 6 grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 44 years Harrison E. Carter in 1988, her parents Rudolph and Cordia (nee Wilson) Schmidt, sister Norma McQueen, and brother Robert Schmidt.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, February 28, 2005, at 2:00 PM in Ridge Hill Memorial Park Cemetery in Amherst, OH, with Rev. Stephen Sedgwick, rector of the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, officiating.
