Dorothy Jovanovski, 80, Loved Cooking

Dorothy Jovanovski (nee: Karafel), 80 years of age, and a resident of Melbourne, Florida, passed away Monday, February 21, 2005 at Holmes Regional Hospital in Melbourne following a brief illness.

She was born July 19, 1924 in Amherst where she lived the major portion of her life. She was a graduate of the former Central High School with the class of 1942. Dorothy has been a resident of Melbourne for the last three years.

While living in Amherst, she was an active member of SS. Cyril and Methodius Orthodox Church in Lorain where she served as a board member and officer for many years. Her father was a charter member of SS Cyril and Methodius Orthodox Church. She loved cooking and giving care to her family and friends.

Survivors include her daughter Karen Oates of Melbourne, Florida; her sons James E. Koleff of Melbourne, Florida and Gary J. Koleff of Lorain; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and eight nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her first husband of thirty-seven years, James Koleff in 1982; by her second husband Pando Jovanovski in 2001; by her daughter Dawn Koleff; by her parents Frank and Celia Karafel; by her brother George Karafel; and by her sisters Mary Ann Stargel in 1988 and Julia Naumoff in 1965.

Friends may call Thursday, February 24, 2005 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Avenue, Amherst, where a Parastas Prayer Service will be held at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. from SS. Cyril and Methodius Orthodox Church, 3056 Reeves Avenue, Lorain. The Rev. Fr. Paul G. Monkowski, Rector will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.
