James Albert Satterfield, 76, US Army Veteran
James Albert Satterfield, age 76, and a resident of Sheffield Township, passed away Saturday, February 19, 2005 at Elyria United Methodist Village following a brief illness.He was born April 7, 1928 in Lorain and had been a lifetime Lorain and Sheffield Township resident. He was a graduate of Clearview High School.
James served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was employed by Jefferson Trucking in Lorain, driving semi rigs for the last twenty-five years. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church of Lorain for over sixty years where he had served both as Deacon and a Sunday School Teacher. He was a member of Teamsters Local in Lorain and their retirees club.
Survivors include his sisters: Mary Lou Williams of Amherst, ‘’Sue’’ Ruth M. Satterfield and Elza G. Satterfield of Lorain; two nephews and three nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Ewel T. and Amarette J. Satterfield (nee Jefferson).
Friends may call Monday, February 21, 2005 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 22, 2005 at Fellowship Baptist Church; 5046 Broadway Ave., Lorain at 11 a.m. The Rev. Jack Ison, pastor of Fellowship Baptist Church will officiate.
Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.
