Dolores A. ''Dottie'' Turton, 74, Gifted drawer

Dolores A. "Dottie" Turton, age 74, of Lorain, died Tuesday, February 15, 2005 at her residence following an extended illness.

Ms. Turton was born on September 3, 1930 in Lorain and had been a life-long resident of the city.

She attended Saint Ladislaus Parish School and was a 1948 graduate of Lorain High School. She then attended the Lorain Business College.

Dottie began her working career as a credit manager for the Bond Clothing Company; she later secured employment as a claims manager for the Nieding-Kayle Insurance Agency of Lorain, and then in the same capacity with Reith Insurance also of Lorain. She retired from Reith 1993. Following her retirement from the insurance industry, she was employed as an assistant bookkeeper for Molnar Outdoor Company of South Amherst.

She was a parishioner of Saint Ladislaus Catholic Church of Lorain and was a member of the Blessed Virgin Mary Society and Saint Ann’s Auxiliary there.

She was a gifted drawer who enjoyed knitting, league bowling at the American Slovak Lanes, and feeding various forms of wildlife that visited her back yard.

Survivors included two sisters; Mrs. Edward (Margaret) Molnar and Mrs. John (Kathleen) Andrews both of Lorain along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents: Bert and Anna (nee Mikula-Mecauley) Hanko.

Friends may call Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel - 3224 Broadway - Lorain. Funeral services will begin Monday at 8:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel and will be followed by the celebration of her funeral mass at 9:00 a.m. in Saint Ladislaus Catholic Church - 1412 East 29th Street – Lorain. The Reverend James Schmidt, pastor of the parish will officiate.

Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery - Lorain.

The family suggests memorials in Dottie's memory to the Restoration Fund of Saint Ladislaus Catholic Church - 1412 East 29th Street - Lorain, Ohio 44055.
