Janis L. Durfee, 74, Teacher
Janis L. (nee Krall) Durfee, 74 of Lorain, Ohio died on Friday, February 11, 2005, at Community Health Partners Hospital & Surgical Center in Lorain, OH following a long illness.
Mrs. Durfee was born on September 4, 1930, in Holyoke, MA. She graduated from Erskine Jr College in Boston, MA and Leslie Teacher's College in Cambridge, MA. She moved to Lorain in 1950.
She retired in 1982 from Lorain City Schools as an elementary school teacher. She taught in J. Lindsay and Larkmoor Schools. She had 31 years service. She was a life member of the Ohio Education Association, National Education Association, Lorain Education Association, Ladies League and Lorain Yacht Club.
She loved cats, enjoyed being near the water and helping people.
Mrs. Durfee is survived by cousins and her caregiver Diana Hanna of Lorain.
She is preceded in death by her husband Don H. Durfee on Jan 29, 1991 and her parents Alfred and Thelma (nee Paige) Krall.
Friends may call at Schwartz Spence Boyer & Cool Home for Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain, OH, on Monday, February 14, 2005, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 15, 2005, at 10:00 am at Schwartz Spence Boyer & Cool Home for Funerals in Lorain, OH, with Rev. James E. Smucker, pastor of Heritage Presbyterian Church officiating. Janis Louise Durfee will be buried at Ridge Hill Memorial Park Cemetery in Amherst Twp., OH.
