Thomas E. Negowski, 75, Machinist
Thomas E. Negowski, 75, of Sheffield Village, died Thursday, February 10, 2005, at St. John West Shore Hospital in Westlake after a lengthy illness.He was born February 22, 1929, in Elyria and had resided in Sheffield Village since 1964 moving from Elyria. He had also lived in Port Huron, Michigan.
Mr. Negowski was a graduate of St. Stephen’s High School in Port Huron, Michigan where he was captain of the varsity basketball team.
He worked at Lear Romec Corporation in Elyria as a machinist for 25 years before retiring.
Mr. Negowski was a member of St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church in Sheffield Village. He enjoyed woodworking, model building, golf and bowling and bowled with the Lear Siegler (Romec) bowling team.
He is survived by his sons, Joseph V. Negowski of Elyria Township and Stephen E. Negowski of Bath, daughters Mary Negowski of Eureka, California and Sheila A. Clement of Huntington Beach, California; 6 grandchildren, 2 great grandsons and sisters Veronica Justice and Dorothy Lemanski, both of Port Huron, Michigan.
He was preceded in death by his wife Wanda Negowski (nee Lyons) on May 10, 1980, parents Joseph and Sophie Negowski (nee Olszewski) and sister Joan Negowski.
Friends may call Monday, February 14, 2005 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain where funeral services will be held Tuesday, at 9:15 a.m. The mass of Christian Burial will follow on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Teresa of Avilla Catholic Church, 1878 Abbe Road Sheffield Village. The Rev. Robert Franco, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Teresa Cemetery.
