Dorothy E. Kowalczyk, 76, Seamstress

Dorothy was born in Lorain on June 6, 1928 and had been a life-long resident of the city.

She attended Saint Anthony Parish School as well as Fairhome School as a youth. She was employed as a seamstress for the former Weitz Brothers Clothing Company of Lorain; she had also worked in the cafeterias at both Holy Trinity and Saint Stanislaus Parish Schools.

A parishioner of Saint Stanislaus Catholic Church, she was formerly active with the Blue Star Mothers of Lorain; her hobbies included all forms of crafts, crocheting, as well as playing cards and bingo. She also enjoyed the companionship of her two pet Pug dogs: Stosh and Pudge.

Mrs. Kowalczyk is survived by her husband of fifty-four years: Julius, by sons: Joseph T. Kowalczyk, Sr., and David A. Kowalczyk both of Lorain. Daughters: Dolores G. Kowalczyk and Barbara A. Kowalczyk both also of Lorain along with five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by an infant son: Thomas, by her father, Albert Wetzel, by her mother: Ann (nee Tomadai) by her stepfather: Christ Evanoff and by one brother.

Visitation will be Friday, February 11, 2005 from 5 to 9 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Saturday beginning at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel and will be followed by the celebration of a funeral mass at 11 a.m. in Saint Stanislaus Catholic Church, 2702 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. The Reverend Kevin C. Shemuga, pastor of Saint Stanislaus Parish will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
