Pauline Williams, 81, Enjoyed Camping, Fishing and Gardening

She was born August 20, 1923 in Big Chimney, West Virginia. She moved to Ohio in 1953 and lived in Akron and Oberlin from 1954 to 1978. She was a resident of Amherst for twenty years before moving to Vermilion to live with her son.

Pauline was employed as a sexton with the First Church of Oberlin for eighteen years, retiring in 1985. She enjoyed camping, fishing and gardening.

Survivors include her son Eddie Williams of Vermilion; one grandchild; four step grandchildren; four step great grandchildren; and her sister Julia “Sis” Bays of Elyria.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years Richard “Pops” D. Williams on November 3, 2003; her sisters Ouida Mae Day and Ollie Ozela Treadway and by her parents Edward and Eva Kidd (nee Skyles)

Friends may call Wednesday, February 8, 2005 from 3-5 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Avenue, Amherst. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. from the funeral home. The Rev. Steve Hammond and Rev. Mary Hammond, pastors of Peace Community Church in Oberlin will officiate.
