Pauline Williams, 81, Enjoyed Camping, Fishing and Gardening
Pauline Williams (nee: Kidd), 81 years of age, and a resident of Vermilion, passed away Friday, February 4, 2005 at New Life Hospice Residential Center in Lorain following a deteriorating illness.She was born August 20, 1923 in Big Chimney, West Virginia. She moved to Ohio in 1953 and lived in Akron and Oberlin from 1954 to 1978. She was a resident of Amherst for twenty years before moving to Vermilion to live with her son.
Pauline was employed as a sexton with the First Church of Oberlin for eighteen years, retiring in 1985. She enjoyed camping, fishing and gardening.
Survivors include her son Eddie Williams of Vermilion; one grandchild; four step grandchildren; four step great grandchildren; and her sister Julia Sis Bays of Elyria.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years Richard Pops D. Williams on November 3, 2003; her sisters Ouida Mae Day and Ollie Ozela Treadway and by her parents Edward and Eva Kidd (nee Skyles)
Friends may call Wednesday, February 8, 2005 from 3-5 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Avenue, Amherst. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. from the funeral home. The Rev. Steve Hammond and Rev. Mary Hammond, pastors of Peace Community Church in Oberlin will officiate.
