Clifford L. Williams Sr., 69, Ford Telegraph Operator and Pin Striper
Clifford L. Williams, Sr. 69 died Tuesday, February 1, 2005 in his home following a lengthy illness.He was born June 2, 1935 in Wetzel County, West Virginia. He was a Lorain for 49 years moving from here in 1955.
Mr. Williams retired in 1991 from Ford Lorain Assembly Plant . He worked there as an telegraph operator and pin striper. He worked there for 30 years.
He served in the Army, with 583rd Artillery Battery. He earned National Defense service medal and the Good Conduct medal.
He was a member of the United Auto Workers Local 425, Moose Lodge, Saint Lad's Club and the Slovenian Club all of Lorain. He coached Little League and Hot Stove League Baseball. He enjoyed auto racing and working on cars.
Among the survivors are his sons Terry Murray of North Ridgeville and Clifford L. Williams, Jr. of Lorain a daughter Sarah Louise Zirkle of Mannington West Virginia; brothers Walter Williams of Mc Connellsville, Ohio, Joe Williams of Ashland, Ohio Patty George Williams of Pine Grove, West Virginia; sisters Lilly Bickerstaff and Nancy Judge both of Pine Grove, West Virginia and Helen Martin of Farmington, West Virginia; and twelve Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Ethel (nee Shreves) Williams, brothers James Delaney, Hershel Herthorn and Arthur Torman, and a sister June Wright.
Friends may call Thursday, February 3, 2005 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain, Ohio. Friends may also call Friday 12:00 PM until time of service in the funeral home at 1:00 pm. Reverend Scott Dempster, Pastor of New Life Community Church, North Ridgeville will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township, Ohio, where the Amherst Veterans Military Honor Guard will conduct military honors.
