Charles James Beattie, 62, Sales Representative
Charles James Beattie, 62 of Lorain, died Tuesday, February 1, 2005 in his home following a brief illness.He was born June 9, 1942 in Lorain and has been a lifetime resident.
Mr. Beattie retired in 1988 from Fisher Scientific Co. He worked there as a Sales Representative for 22 years.
He served in the Air Force during the Viet Nam conflict.
He was a member of the St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Ford V8 Club of America, Woody Club of America, Gull Wing Group, Ohio Gun Collectors Association, Ohio Valley Military Association and was past president of Mercedes Benz Club of Cleveland.
Mr. Beattie restored antique automobiles and was a judge at many car shows.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Mary A. (nee Volak), brother, Douglas Beattie of Elyria and sister, Diane Crittenden of LaGrange and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Eulilie (Frye) Beattie.
Friends may call Thursday, February 3, 2005 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Reichlin-Cooley Funeral Home, 2920 Broadway, Lorain. Prayers will be said at 9:30 on Friday, February 4, 2005 at the funeral home, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass at St. Anthony Church. Fr. Joseph West, O.F.M. Conv. will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township, Ohio, where the VFW Post 541 and the American Legion Post 30 will conduct military honors.
