Melvin Casada, 58, Repairman
Melvin Casada, 58 years of age, and a resident of South Amherst, passed away Monday, January 31, 2005, at Cleveland Clinic following a brief illness.He was born June 25, 1946 in Kidder, Kentucky. South Amherst has been his home since 1965.
He was employed by Lorain Assembly Plant of Ford Motor Corp for thirty-four years, retiring in 2000 as a repairman. He attended the Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Amherst and Liberty Baptist Church in Kidder, Kentucky. He enjoyed working on cars, hunting and traveling.
Survivors include his wife of forty years, Linda Mae Casada (nee: Dalton); his daughters Theresa Lynn Strader of Taylorville, Kentucky and Jennifer Fay Helton of South Amherst; his mother Lura Casada (nee: Cowan) of Burnside, Kentucky; four grandchildren; his brother Floyd Casada of Burnside, Kentucky; and his sisters Louise Nevels of Frazier, Kentucky and Wilma Mae Bray of Kipton, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his son, Tony Lynn Casada in 1969; by his father Hubert Casada in 1990; by his brother Willard R. Casada in 1948; and by his sister Frances K. Casada in 1944.
Friends may call Wednesday, February 2, 2005 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Avenue, Amherst and Friday at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home in Somerset, Kentucky. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 5, 2005, at 10 a.m. at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home. Burial will be in Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery in Kidder, Kentucky.
