Horace A. Love, 65, Enjoyed Playing Chess and Scrabble
Horace A. Love, 65 of Avon Lake formerly of Jamaica, passed away, Saturday, January 29, at the Bradley Bay Health Center following a lengthy illness.Mr. Love was born March 26, 1939 in St. Ann, Jamaica and moved to Avon Lake in 1985.
Mr. Love managed several Kaiser Aluminum and Chemical Plants in the area and continued to work until his illness. He graduated from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, CA. Following graduation, he completed an intensive course study in at The Harvard Business School.
Mr. Love was a member of St Barnabas Episcopal Church, where he taught Bible Study, he was a member of the Vestry, a Sunday School Teacher and a member of the churches garden committee. He did volunteer work for local hunger centers. He enjoyed playing bridge and was a member of the church’s bridge club. He also enjoyed playing Chess and Scrabble. Other favorite pastimes included traveling extensively around the world including most of the 50 states as well as, Hong Kong and China. He loved flower gardening, especially roses. His family said of him that he never know a stranger.
Mr. Love is survived by his wife of 39 years, Maureen June (nee Mullings), whom he married September 4, 1965. Other survivors include 2 daughters: Gina S. Love of New York, NY and Tracy A. Love of Houston TX; his mother Linda P. (nee Miller) Love of Sunrise, FL; sisters: Sandra Anderson, Jean Brown, Rose Love and brother Winston Love.
He is preceded in death by his father: Harris Colbeck Love, brother Leon Love and sister Pearl Dalley.
A memorial service will be Saturday, February 5, 2005 in St. Barnabas Church, 468 Bradley Rd., Bay Village at 1:00pm. Interment will be in the church’s columbarium. Memorial Contributions may be forwarded to the American Bible Society, 1865 Broadway, New York, NY, 10023. Arrangements and cremation are by Busch Funeral and Crematory Services, Avon Lake.
