Floyd "Red" Barton Storey, 64, Electrical repairman
Floyd "Red" Barton Storey, 64 years of age and a resident of South Amherst passed away January 29, 2005 at Community Health Partners following a lengthy illness.Floyd was born May 14, 1940 in Robbins, TN where he was raised and lived until joining the United States Army in 1958. After being discharged and marring his wife Emma L Gibson he moved to South Amherst, OH where he has resided with his family for the past forty years.
He was a member of the Faith Baptist Church in Amherst where he had in earlier years volunteered in their AWANA youth program. He worked for the Lorain Ford Motor Assembly plant for thirty years taking retirement in 1991 as a electrical repairman. The hobby he enjoyed most in life was working with his hands fixing small motors and sharpening saw blades; operating a small repair and sharpening business from his home for over thirty years.
Survivors include wife Emma Louise (nee Gibson) to whom he had been married forty years this February; sons, Mark Floyd Storey of South Amherst and Philip Andrew Storey of Broken Bow, OK; 10 grandchildren; brothers, Joseph of Nashville, TN, Samuel of Black Creek TN, Ples of Mountain view, TN; sisters, Delma Jones of Robbins, TN, Pearl Kidd of O'Neida, TN.
He was preceded by brother, Archie Storey 1/22/97 and by sisters, Glois Storey 1930 and by Mary Martha Phillips 1/21/01; and by parents, Ples Storey Sr. 1976 and Arizona Storey (nee Ellis) 1986.
Friends may call Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Baptist Church, Amherst. Rev. Michael Plogg, pastor, will officiate.
