Joseph D. Babinsky Jr., 61, Machine Operator

Joseph D. Babinsky, Jr., age 61, of Pittsfield Township, died Saturday January 22, 2005 in the emergency room of Allen Medical Center in Oberlin after being stricken with an apparent heart attack.

He was born on September 6, 1943 in Lorain and had been a resident of Pittsfield Township for the past twenty-seven years moving from Lorain.

Joe was a 1961 graduate of Lorain High School. He joined the American Shipbuilding Company following his graduation and served there as a First Class Machinist for twenty-three years. While employed at the shipyard he also served as a union steward there. Upon the closing of AmShip, Mr. Babinsky joined the Nordson Corporation where he was employed from 1984 to 2001 as a fork lift operator. He was most recently employed as a machine operator for the Diamond Products Company of Elyria.

Mr. Babinsky was a member of the Lorain Church of Christ whose hobbies included the outdoors, camping, league bowling and playing the accordion.

Survivors include his wife of forty years: Kathleen M. (nee Muc) Babinsky, sons: Dale of Vermilion, Dave of Charlotte, North Carolina, three grandchildren, and brothers: Dennis, James, and Robert all of Lorain. He was preceded in death by his parents: Joseph D. Babinsky, Sr. and Pearl (Nee Plato) Babinsky.

Friends may call Tuesday, January 25, 2005 from 4 p.m. until time of services at 6:30 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway, Lorain. The Reverend Bob Eddy, pastor of the Lorain Church of Christ will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages memorials to either the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 401 Tomahawk Drive, Maumee, Ohio 43537 or to the Lorain Church of Christ, 5075 Toledo Road, Lorain, Ohio 44055.
