Esther Lucille Root

She a 40 year cancer survivour. She attended Grafton United Methodist Church for many years. Mrs. Root was a homemaker who enjoyed caring for her family home and was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society for over 40 years and New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain for 6 years.

She enjoyed water skiing and actually made her first pair of ski's, music, singing and playing the organ. She enjoyed winters in Fla. and camping in the summer.

She is survived by 2 Daughters Betty Johnson of Atlanta, Ga., Bev Melton of LaGrange, Ohio, 2 sons Clyde (Tom) Root of Grafton, Ohio, Raymond (Scott) Root of Lorain, Ohio, 6 grandchildren & 2 Great grand children, 2 sisters Christine Landes of Oberlin, Ohio, Dot Francisco of New York, 2 brothers Don Gibbens of Fla., Dick Gibbens of Elyria, Ohio and Bill Gibbens of NV.

She is proceded in death by her husband Darrel in 1998, her parents Chester & Calantha Gibbens, 1 brother Doug, 3 sisters Virginia Hutchinson, Betty Roberts, & Pat Ruben.

There will be no visitation or services at the present time, but a celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Blackburn-Duke Funeral Home 1021 Main St. Grafton is in charge of handling arrangements.
