Margaret P. Kiska, 95, Active in volunteer work
Margaret P. Kiska, (nee Vigg), age 95, of Lorain, died Monday January 17, 2005 at the New Life Hospice Center of Saint Joseph following a brief illness.Mrs. Kiska was born in Lorain on December 30, 1909 and had been a life-long resident of the city.
She was an active member of the Hungarian Reformed Church of Lorain where she was associated with the Busy Martha Guild and Caring Circles of the church. She was also a member of the Hungarian Reformed Federal Credit Union.
Mrs. Kiska dedicated much of her free time to serving as a volunteer with the former Saint Joseph Hospital and then its successor Community Health Partners. She was a life member of the Saint Joseph Hospital Volunteer's Organization and was recognized as Volunteer of the Year by that body in 1987.
She was also a member of the United Transportation Union Auxiliary whose hobbies included all forms of arts and crafts, cooking, baking, and the company of her grandchildren.
Survivors included daughters: Rosemarie Csubak and Janice Brady both of Lorain, five grandsons, thirteen great grandchildren, a sister: Helen Baker of Lorain, and a brother: James Vigg residing in Quincy, Florida.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband: Joseph in 2002, by a daughter: Evelyn Hinkle in 1962, by a grandson: Michael Hinkle in 1957, her parents: John and Fannie (nee Cseh) Vigg; by sisters: Ethel Cullen in 2001, Louise Chet in 1997, Pearl Mitchell in 1993, and Elizabeth Brunner, as well as brothers: Steven "Bull" Vigg in 1988, John Vigg, and Frank Vigg.
Visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel - 3224 Broadway - Lorain. Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. in the funeral chapel with the Reverend Atilla Szemesi, pastor of the Amherst Congregational United Church of Christ officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery - Lorain.
