Carmen "Veva" Soto, 79, Enjoyed reading the Bible
Carmen "Veva" Soto (nee Lopez), 79, of Lorain, Ohio died at home on Saturday, January 15, 2005 after a brief illness.She was born in San Sebastian, Puerto Rico, on January 20, 1925, and moved to Lorain in January 1951.
Mrs. Soto was a homemaker and mother who was a member of Bethel Temple, East 31 Street in Lorain and was involved in the Sociedad de Damas. She was an active member of the Intercessory Prayer group. She enjoyed reading the Bible, praying, sewing, cooking, and indoor/outdoor plants.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Juan M. Soto; daughters Margie Mattei of Lorain, Puri Purta of Grafton, Julie Sanchez of Lorain, Nancy Soto, missionary in Quanaminthe, Haiti, Brunie Surget of NYC; son Ed Soto of Tampa, Florida, and six grandchildren; sister Lido Salva of Lorain and brother Vincent Lopez of Carolina, Puerto Rico, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Enrique and Puri (nee Alberty) Lopez, brothers Ramon and Francisco Lopez.
Friends may call Monday, January 15 at 11 a.m. until time of service at 12 p.m. at the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31 Street, South Lorain. The Reverend Gilbert Silva, pastor of the House of Praise International Church, Lorain will officiate. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
