Jack Raymond Kleinhans, Sr., 77, Avid Boater

Jack Raymond Kleinhans, Sr., 77 of Vermilion, died Friday, January 7, 2005 in Specialty Hospital of Lorain after a lengthy illness.

He was born May 3, 1927 in Cleveland, Ohio.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served during World War II and the Korean Conflict.

He worked for Cleveland Yacht and Supply Co. and later was owner of Marine Sales Co. in Vermilion. He retired from International Paint Co./Interlux after 42 years where he served as a Manufacturers Rep and Midwest Sales Manager. He was awarded Salesmen of the Year several times.

He graduated from Dyke College with a Bachelor's Degree and attended Ohio State University. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Vermilion. He was a member of the National American Legion. He was an honorary lifetime member and past president of the Lake Erie Marine Trades Association and founder of the first Cleveland Boat Show. He was an instructor for the US Power Squadron. He was an avid boater, golfer and enjoyed traveling.

Survivors include his wife, Denise M. (nee Bregar) Kleinhans; 3 daughters, Diane M. McClain of Sheffield Lake; Christine L. Stanfield of Amherst and Lisa L. Trevathan of Avon Lake; 2 sons, Jack R. Kleinhans, Jr. of Houston, TX and William C. Kleinhans of Vermilion; brother, Charles J. Kleinhans of Louisville, KY, 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Ethel (nee Gladden) Kleinhans. a grandson, Zachary Kleinhans; his first wife, Marilyn M. (nee Mayer); and second wife, Astrid E. (nee Schmidt).

The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 9, 2005 from 3-7 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio, where the Vermilion Veterans Council will conduct military honors at 7 p.m.

A memorial Mass will be held Monday at St. Mary Catholic Church, 731 Exchange Street, Vermilion at 12:30 p.m. Father Neil Walters and Father Jim Holmer will con-celebrate.
