Sara Alice Starr, 82, Secretary

Sara Alice Starr (nee McCammon), age 82 of Lorain, died Monday, January 3, 2005 at Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center following an extended illness.

Mrs. Starr was born May 30, 1922 in Holloway, Ohio and had been a resident of Lorain since 1946.

Sara was a graduate of Holloway High School Class of 1940 and went on to complete studies at the Wheeling Business School in Wheeling, West Virginia. She was employed as a secretary for Laborers Local #758 of Lorain; she retired from that post in 1980 following 13 � years of services. She had previously been employed as a bookkeeper for the T.N. Molas Furniture Company of Lorain and in a similar capacity with the Meyer-Goldberg Store also of Lorain.

Mrs. Starr was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Mullen-Murray Post #451 of the VFW (Lorain) as well as a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Lorain Moose Lodge #552.

Survivors include her husband of sixty-two years, Donald Starr, Sr., a son: Donald Starr, Jr. of Lorain, daughters: Mrs. Willie (Sharon) Burgess of Crossville, Tennessee, Bonnie Starr of Vermilion, and Mrs. David (June) Bannick of Avon Lake along with six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Mack and Goldie (nee Hall) McCammon, by brothers, Charles Craig and William Dietz, and by sisters, Martha Litten and Maude King.

Visitation will be Wednesday, January 5, 2005 from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in the funeral chapel with Reverend Richard Henry, pastor of Amherst Church of the Nazarene officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon, Ohio.
