Barbara R. Boerwinkle-Weller, 62, Interested in bridges

Barbara R. Boerwinkle-Weller, (nee Koepke), age 62, of Lorain, died Sunday, January 2, 2005 at Ohio Extended Care Center of Lorain following a lengthy illness.

She was born November 16, 1942 and had lived in the Lorain area all of her life.

Barbara was a former member of St. John’s United Church of Christ. She was also in the Alliance of Transylvanian Saxon’s (ATS). She had an interest in researching Bridges and was close to publishing a book on bridges built by John Berg. Her hobbies included Genealogy and she enjoyed flowers.

Survivors include her husband David E. Weller of Lorain; her sons: John D. of Lorain, Donald J. of Warwick, Rd. Island, Jay D. of Lorain, and William O. Boerwinkle, of North Olmsted; daughters Donna J. Boerwinkle of Lorain and Carolyn M. Spence of Huron; 7 grandchildren; brother: Henry Koepke of Kansas; and sister Elaine Muha of Vermilion.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Orvil and Tillie (nee Schenker) Koepke; and her brother: Donald Koepke.

Visitation will be on Wednesday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. at the Riechlin-Cooley Home for Funerals, 2920 Broadway Ave., in Lorain. Funeral services will be on Thursday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. William Hainstock will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park.
