Robert W. Georgeff, 77, Ardent fan of all sports

Robert W. Georgeff, age 77, of Amherst, died Wednesday December 29, 2004 at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland following a sudden illness.

Mr. Georgeff was born on January 29, 1927 in Lorain and had been a resident of Amherst since 1992, coming from Lorain.

He was a graduate of Lorain High School as a member of the class of 1945-A. He went on to attend The Ohio State University where he earned his Bachelor's of Science Degree in Economics in 1950.

Mr. Georgeff returned to Lorain and secured employment as an expeditor with the Bendix-Westinghouse Corporation in Elyria In 1959 be joined the United States Steel Corporation and was appointed to the post of supervisor in the rolling mills there. He retired from that entity in 1983. Later that year he joined the Internal Revenue Service Cleveland Bureau. He officially retired from their service in 1992.

Bob was an active, lift-long member of the First Congregational Church in Lorain where he served as head usher, deacon, and Fellowship Supper Club member. He was also a long-time member and Secretary of the Board of Directors at the Lorain Salvation Army.

He was an ardent fan of all sports with a special fondness for the game of golf. An avid follower of Ohio State University sports teams; he also enjoyed the stock market.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years: Mildred (nee Demich), a son: Bob Georgeff of Vancouver, Washington, a daughter: Mrs. Mitchell (Lisa) Zunich of Amherst; grandchildren: Hannah Georgeff, Peter Georgeff, Neven Zunich, and Dane Zunich, and a sister: Lillian Phinney of Kelley's Island, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Peter and Luba (nee Dimitrova) Georgeff.

Visitation will be Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel – 3224 Broadway - Lorain. Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. in the First Congregational Church - 423 Washington Avenue - Lorain. The Reverend Carl Richter, pastor of the church will officiate. Burial will immediately follow in Elmwood Cemetery - Lorain
