Evelyn Louise Hardesty, 91, Enjoyed bingo and travel

Evelyn Louise Hardesty (nee Spiker) 91 years of age, and a resident of Stuart, Florida, passed away December 27, 2004 at Martin Memorial Hospital in Florida following a brief illness.

Evelyn was born December 20, 1913 in Wooster, Ohio. She was raised and had lived in Lorain County most of her life, graduating from Lorain High School. She had made Florida her home for the past four years.

She was employed in her early years as a waitress at McGarvey’s Restaurant in Vermilion and as a secretary at Columbia Gas Company in Elyria for twenty years. She enjoyed playing bingo, traveling and loved cats.

Survivors include her husband of fifty-one years Wendell A. Hardesty "Lefty; her sons Richard C. Northeim of Henrietta Township and Robert L. Northeim of Lorain; five grandchildren; ten great grandchildren and her half sister Dorothy Mullen of Waco, Texas.

She was preceded by her parents Ray and Mabel Miller.

Friends may call Monday, January 3, 2005 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. The Rev. Elizabeth Terrill of Brownhelm Congregational Church will officiate. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Township, Ohio.
