Steve Kolcun, 81, TRW Retiree/Active in Church

Photo of Steve Kolcun Steve Kolcun, 81, of Lorain, died Thursday December 23, 2004 at Allen Medical Center in Oberlin after a short illness.

He was born November 22, 1923 in Central City, Pennsylvania and had resided in the Lorain area for the past 60 years.

Mr. Kolcun worked at TRW in Lorain and Elyria as a factory worker for 24 years retiring in 1986.

He was a member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Rite Catholic Church in Lorain and the church Holy Name Society. He was active at the church helping with yard maintenance, making pierogies and working bingo. He was also a member of the American Slovak Club, Russo-Slav Club, Polish American Citizens Club, Jednota and the Greek Catholic Union Lodge #77. He enjoyed woodworking and polka dancing.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years Mary Kolcun (nee Dzunda), daughter Ann Jewell of Amherst, brother George Kolcun of Surprise, Arizona and sisters Helen Dzundova and Maria Lukacova, both of Slovakia. He was preceded in death by his parents George & Anna (nee Kacmarova) Kolcun, grandson Michael S. Kolcun and brother John Kolcun.

The family will receive friends Monday, December 27, 2004, from 2-4; 6-8 PM at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain where the Parastas service will be held Monday at 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 9:30 AM in the funeral chapel followed by the Divine Liturgy at 10:00 AM at St. Nicholas Byzantine Rite Catholic Church, 2711 W. 40th St., Lorain. The Rev. Nicholas Rachford, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
