Joan M. Socha, 76, Enjoyed Flower and Vegetable Gardening

She was born on June 24, 1928 in Lorain, Ohio and has been a lifelong resident. She attended Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary School and graduated from Lorain High School Class of 1946 A. Out of high school she worked as an office clerk for the TJ Hume Construction Company in Lorain from 1946-1954 and later returned to work with the Woodward Construction Company from 1978-1990.
She was a lifelong homemaker, devoted to her husband and six children and also an active grandma to her 10 grandchildren.
Also in her earlier years, she was active in the Admiral King Boosters Club, having served as their treasurer, and was a girl scout leader. She formerly attended Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Lorain and was a current member of the Catholic Church of St. Peter in Lorain. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening and working with stained glass.
Survivors include her husband, Adam Socha of Lorain; her children, Joseph Michael Socha of Bradenton, Florida, Donna M. Socha of Cincinnati, Sandra Vest of Davidson, NC, John "Jay" Socha of Henrietta Township, James Robert Socha of Suamico, WI and Jeffrey A. Socha of Avon; 10 grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Joseph and Lucy (nee Marciniak) Przychocki.
Friends may call on Monday, December 27, 2004 from 1-4 pm and on Tuesday, December 28, 2004 from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the Dombrowski-Volak-Riddle Funeral Home, 1939 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain, Ohio. Closing prayers will be said at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 29, 2004 at 10:30am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am at the Catholic Church of St. Peter, 3501 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain. The Reverend Kenneth Wolnowski, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Lorain.
