Chester C. "Chet" Conrad, 77, Volunteer Fireman
Chester C. Chet Conrad, 77 of Avon, passed away, Monday, December 20, 2004 at St. John West Shore Hospital, following complications of a stroke.Mr. Conrad was born July 15, 1927 in Avon and had lived his entire life there until moving to N. Olmsted 6 months ago.
Mr. Conrad worked for B.F. Goodrich, Avon Lake for 23 years, retiring from the Shipping and Receiving Department in 1989. He was a US Navy, serving from 1945-46. He served as an Avon Volunteer Fireman from 1961 to 1997. He was a member of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church and a member of the Holy Name Society.
He is survived by his wife Virginia (nee Smith) whom he married, April 26, 1949. Other survivors include 4 daughters: Linda Conrad of Middleburg Hts.; Cheryl Brackett (David) of Tyler, TX; Robin Rothacker (Mike) of Bedford and Mary Beth Bergenstein (John) of Columbia Station. Other survivors include 4 grandchildren: Michael Lembke, John Rothaker, Heather and Nicholas Brackett and 4 brothers: Lester Conrad of Columbus and Donald Conrad, Robert Conrad and Ronald Conrad of Avon.
He is preceded in death by his parents: A.J. and Mildred (nee Weber) Conrad.
Friends may call at the Busch Funeral Home, 32000 Detroit Rd., Avon, Wednesday, December 22nd, from 3:00-7:30 pm. A prayer service will be at the funeral home Thursday, December 23 at 9:15 am followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church, 2640 Stoney Ridge Rd., Avon at 10:00am. Fr. Thomas Cleaton of the Church will officiate. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church.
