Carl G. Ignatko, 67, Served in the US Army
Carl G. Ignatko, age 67, of Lorain, died Thursday, December 16, 2004, at his residence following an illness of two and a half months.Mr. Ignatko was born October 4, 1937 in Lorain and had been a life-long resident of the city.
He was a graduate of Lorain High School as a member of the class of 1956-A, and went on the serve in the US Army from 1958 through 1962. He then served as an operator for the D.L. Page Equipment Company of Elyria from 1983 to 1995. He was most recently affiliated with the Midwest Equipment Company of Garfield Heights from 1995 until the time of his retirement in 2000.
A parishioner of the Catholic Church of St. Peter in Lorain, her was a skilled woodworker who crafted much of his family’s furniture. For more than 30 years he also constructed Barbie Houses and miniature furniture to furnish them which he sold through his wife’s booth at Jamie’s Flea Market in nearby South Amherst.
An avid walker, his additional interests included cycling, landscaping, gardening, cooking, and travel.
Survivors include his wife of 45 � years: Donna (nee Udvardy); sons: Donald of Columbia Station, OH, and Matthew of Lorain; daughters: Mrs. Steve (Donna Marie) Stetak of Lorain and Mrs. David (Polly) Odelli of Middleburg Heights, Ohio; grandchildren: Stephan Stetak, Benjamin Stetak, Carene Ignatko, Amber Ignatko, Ryan Ignatko, and Derek Odelli; along with sisters: Betty Yepko of Lorain and Mary Ann Shaw of Inverness, FL.
He was preceded in death by his father: Carl P. Ignatko; his mother: Mary Ignatko-Bishop (nee Clotz); his father-in-law: Andrew Udvardy in 1987, and by his mother-in-law: Kathryn Udvardy in 2003.
Visitation will be Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel ~ 3224 Broadway Ave. in Lorain. Funeral services will be Monday beginning at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel and will be followed by the celebration of his funeral mass at 10 a.m. in the Catholic Church of St. Peter ~ 3501 Oberlin Ave. in Lorain. The Rev. Kenneth Wolnowski, pastor of the parish, and Rev. Dr. Ralph Krupp, permanent deacon will co-officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery ~ Lorain.
