Andrew Bomback, 78, WWII Navy Veteran

Andrew Bomback, age 78, of Lorain, died on Wednesday, December 1, 2004 at Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center West, Lorain, following a lengthy illness.

He was born on August 26, 1926 in Lorain.

He attended Lorain Schools and graduated from Amherst Steele High School. Following graduation from school he entered the United States Navy during World War II. After World War II he received a civil service job, and was sent to Japan where he lived for 30 years. He later changed careers and entered the movie industry as an actor because he could speak Japanese. He had a part in the movies "Godzilla" and "Tora Tora". He moved back to Lorain from Japan, 20 years ago.

Andrew was employed as a manager for a number of years at Lorain Metropolitan Housing Authority.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel and The Catholic Church of St. Peter, Lorain.

He loved to cook and read Asian history.

He is survived by his wife of 10 years: Magdaline (nee Romero), step-sons: Gonzalo Delgado, of Elyria, Francisco Delgado, of Lincoln, Nebraska, Rosario Delgado, LaGrange, Georgia and 2 step-daughters: Evelyn Hall, of Elyria and Guadalupe Torres, of Lorain, 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents: John and Johanna (nee Kramer) Bomback, 11 brothers and sisters.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 9, 2004 at 6:00 p.m. in Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain, Rev. William Thaden, pastor, will officiate.

Burial will be the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman, Ohio at a later date.
