Andrew Gargus, 93, Avid Cleveland Indians Fan

Andrew Gargus, age 93, of Elyria Township, died Wednesday November 17, 2004 at the Northridge Health Center in North Ridgeville following an extended illness.

He was born on February 4, 1911 in Paloma, Czeoslovakia and had been a resident of Lorain County for the past eighty-one years coming from Daisytown, Pennsylvania.

Mr. Gargus was employed at the # 6 stand in the # 4 rolling mill at U.S Steel Corporation's Lorain Works. He retired in 1974 following forty-six years of service with the company.

Mr. Gargus attended Christ Lutheran Church in Lorain. He was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians and was pleased to have seen them reach the World Series twice in his lifetime. For the past twenty-five years he also enjoyed spending his winters in Florida at the homes of his daughters. Additional interests included gardening and fishing.

Andrew is survived by his daughters: Audrey Tarney of Elyria Township, Dolores Gadoinski of Altamonte Springs, Florida, and Sharon Fell of Kissimmee, Florida, grandchildren, ten great grandchildren; and a brother: John Gargus who resides in Columbus, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Marie (nee Duran) in 1996, by an infant son, by his parents: Andrew and Susan Gargus, and by sisters: Susan Boros, Mary Gluhank, and Anna Smith.

Friends may call Monday from 10 a.m. until time of services at 11:00 a.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel - 3224 Broadway - Lorain. The Reverend Laurie Miller, pastor of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park - Amherst Township.
