James "Cliff" C. Riley, 58, Heavy Equipment Operator
James Cliff C. Riley, 58 years of age, and a resident of Lorain, passed away November 12, 2004 at his residence following a three year illness.He was born June 15, 1946 in Upshur County, West Virginia where he was raised. He had lived in the Amherst-Lorain area for the past thirty-eight years.
James was a member of Old Fashioned Grace Baptist Church. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for thirty-one years at Stein, Inc. of Lorain before retiring in 2002. He was a member of the Amherst Eagles and Local 18 Ohio Operators Union. He enjoyed car shows and had owned his own 54’ Ford Coupe. He also enjoyed fishing, camping, four wheeling and blue grass music.
Survivors include his wife, Emma Jean Riley (nee Strader) of thirty-eight years, his son, Fred Riley of Amherst; his daughters, Tammy Jones-Riley of Wakeman and Sherrie Hollis of Cleveland; his brothers Roger Riley and Donnie Riley both of Rock Cave, West Virginia; eight grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Flora (nee Dell) Cooper and his sister, Charolette Bell who died as an infant.
Friends may call, November 14, 2004 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Avenue, Amherst. Funeral Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the Funeral Home. Rev. Farrell Keith, pastor of Old Fashioned Grace Baptist Church of South Amherst, will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in South Amherst.
