Carl "Fat Albert" Daniel Leonard, 64, US Army Veteran

Carl "Fat Albert" Daniel Leonard, 64 years of age, and a resident of New Russia Twp., passed away November 6, 2004 at Community Health Partners ICU after a lengthy illness.

He was born March 6, 1940 in Greensburge, PA and was raised and lived in Luxor, PA until moving to Lorain, OH in 1968. He has been a resident of New Russia Twp for the past thirty-one years.

Carl worked for the Lorain Ford Assembly Plant for twenty nine years retiring in 1997. He also worked part time as a sider for the Custom Ouffers, Midwest Siding and Howell's and Sons. He was a veteran of the US Army. He loved attending antique car shows and owned several antique cars. He enjoyed playing cards, the lotto, watching sports on TV and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events.

Survivors include his wife of fifty seven years; Sandy Leonard (nee Bush); son, Joseph Leonard of Oberlin; daughters, Cindy Reinhold of New Russia Twp, Patricia Rice of LaGrange, Wendy Kapalin of Amherst and Tammy Bentley of Amherst; fifteen grandchildren and a sister Shirley Wallace of Bovard, PA.

He was preceded in death by parents John and Kathryn Leonard (nee Shuey).

Friends may call Tuesday and Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave.; Amherst. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. from the funeral home. The Rev. Carson Fraley, pastor of North Lake Missionary Baptist Church in South Amherst will officiate. Military honors will be presented by the Amherst Veterans Military Honor Guard. Burial will be in Westwood Cemetery in Oberlin, OH.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to American Lung Association, 1950 Arlingate Lane, Columbus, OH 43228.
