Sophia T. Maticic, 83, Enjoyed Family Oriented Activities
Sophia T. Maticic, (nee Klapkowski), age 83, of Moreno Valley, California, formerly of Lorain, died on Tuesday, November 2, 2004 at her residence following a long illness.She was born on June 9, 1921 in Lorain and lived here until moving to Orange County California in 1974. In 1987 she moved to Moreno Valley.
She graduated from Lorain High School in 1939.
Sophia was employed as an assembler at Actron Manufacturer in California for 5 years, retiring in 1980. While living in Lorain she worked at Mascon Toys on Broadway for many years.
She was a former member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Lorain and St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, Elyria. While living in California she was a member of St. Christopher's in Moreno Valley.
She enjoyed family oriented activities and was a wonderful cook.
She is survived by her son: Louis G. "Bud" of Riverside, CA, and her daughter: Elaine Maticic of Moreno Valley, California and her sister: Stella Klapkowski of Lorain.
She was preceded in death by her husband Louis in 1966, brothers: John, Bruno, Edward and William, sisters: Emily, Wanda and Frances.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 10, 2004 from 7-8 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Stanilsaus Catholic Church, Rev. Fr. Kevin Shemuga, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
