Cecilia V. Halas, 95, Enjoyed Reading and Cooking

Photo of Cecilia V. Halas Cecilia V. Halas (nee Stencil), 95 of Lorain, died Tuesday, November 2, 2004 in Kingston of Vermilion after a brief illness.

She was born August 4, 1909 in Lorain, Ohio, and lived her entire life in Lorain.

She was a lifelong member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, Lorain, and its Altar & Rosary Society. She had been a member of the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading, cooking and baking.

Survivors include daughters, Carol A. Muzilla of Vermilion, Patricia J. Bernabale of Lorain, and Mary Lou Miller of Westland, MI; brother, Captain Walter Stencil (USN Retired) of Easton, Maryland; 11 grandchildren; and, 11 great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her husband Anthony Halas (June 1988), parents, John and Stella (nee Wawrzon) Stencil, brothers William, Vincent, and Leo Stencil; and sisters Bernice Morley and Agnes Poplar.

Friends may call Friday, November 5, 2004 from 4-7 p.m. at the Dombrowski-Volak-Riddle Funeral Home, 1939 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain, Ohio. A Rosary Service will be held at 5 pm at the Funeral Home.

Prayers will be said in the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Saturday followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 418 West 15th Street, Lorain. The Reverend Robert J. Glepko, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
