Theodore "Ted" W. Goeltz, 100, Enjoyed cards and bingo

Theodore "Ted" W. Goeltz, Sr. 100 of Avon, formerly of St. Petersburg, FL and Sandusky, OH, passed away, Monday, November 1 at Harborside Care Center, Westlake, following complications of hip surgery.

Mr. Goeltz was born, September 15, 1904 in Akron and had lived in Avon the past 4 years.

Mr. Goeltz had worked as a Linotype Operator for the Sandusky Register for 45 years and for the Toledo Blade for 7 years before retiring in the early 1970s. For 15 years beginning in the late 1940s he owned and operated a Basketball Stand at Cedar Point. He was a 1924 graduate of the Ohio School for the Deaf, Columbus, OH and during his retirement, he was active with the St. Petersburg Deaf Club. He enjoyed playing cards and bingo.

Mr. Goeltz is survived by a granddaughter Linda Miller (Terrence) of Avon and a grandson, Ted Goeltz, III of Medina. Other survivors include a daughter-in-law, Dorothy Goeltz of Sandusky; 4 great grandchildren: Shaun Brady, Corey Brady and Trevor Miller of Avon and Cara Goeltz of Medina. He is also survived by 9 great-great grandchildren and a brother Walter Goeltz of Evansville, Ill.

Besides his wife of 67 years, Mary (nee Jones), Mr. Goeltz is preceded in death by son Ted Goeltz, Jr.; parents: Charles and Mary Goeltz; a sister Esther and brother Harry.

Private Services were held. Arrangements are by the Busch Funeral Home, Avon. Cremation by Busch Crematory. Memorial Contributions may be forwarded to the Ohio School for the Deaf 6857 Willoughby Ct., Westerville, OH 43082.
