Susan Chochol, 88, Owned and operated Chochol Green House

Susan Chochol (nee Kerchmar), 88 years of age, and a resident of Lorain, passed away October 29, 2004 at The Hospital for Orthopedic & Specialty Services, Amherst following a lengthy illness.

She was born January 23, 1916 in Nizna Slana, Slovakia before coming to the United States at a young age. She was raised in Elyria before moving to Lorain where she has lived for the past sixty-five years.

Susan owned and operated with her husband Chochol Green House from 1961 to 1979. She was a member of S.S. Peter and Paul Lutheran Church in Lorain. She loved flowers, baking and was a friend to everyone.

Survived by her niece and caregiver, Sylvia Price of Amherst; her brothers, Andrew Kerchmar and Carl Kerchmar both of Columbus. She was preceded by her husband of fifty-nine years, John Chochol on November 30, 1998; her brothers, Martin Kerchmar and John Kerchmar; her sister Mary Bendik; her parents, John and Zuzana (nee: Safar) Kerchmar.

Friends may call Sunday from 4-7 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. at S.S. Peter and Paul Lutheran Church, 1500 Lincoln Blvd., Lorain, OH. Rev. Edgar Anthony, pastor will officiate. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Township, OH.
