Marshia A. Nelson, 69, First women auctioneer in Ohio
Marshia A. Nelson, (nee Neal) 69, of Sheffield Lake, died Tuesday October 26, 2004 at Community Health Partners Hospital of Lorain, following a short illness.She was born in Ashland Ky., and resided in Eaton Twp., Ohio.
In 1961 Mrs. Nelson was the first lady to be licensed as an auctioneer in the state of Ohio. She was a member of the American Legion Aux 717 and past President in 1969. She again was president of the 8 and 40 in 1989 and 1990 and again in 1991 and 1992. She also worked as a custodian for Midview Schools.
Survivors include her son Jimmie Nelson of Sheffield Lake; brothers; Jimmie Neal of Parma, and Marvin Neal of Eaton Twp. and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years James Nelson in 2002; parents Charles and Lena Neal (nee Robbins) and a son Charles Nelson
A private burial was held at Butternut Ridge Cemetery. Wyers Funeral Chapel handled arrangements.
