Joseph Francis O'Brien, 72, Laborer

Joseph Francis O’Brien, 72 years of age, and a resident of Lorain, passed away October 21, 2004 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain following a lengthy illness.

Born July 26, 1932 in St. John’s Newfoundland, Canada, he has lived for the past twenty-five years in Lorain.

He worked as a laborer for twenty-five years retiring in 1992 from the Laborer Local 758. he attended St. Anthony Catholic Church in Lorain. He was an active member of AA for the past twenty-five years. He enjoyed camping and also enjoyed living by Lake Erie.

Survivors include his wife of twenty-two years, Carla O’Brien (nee: Fuhrman); his brothers, Pat, Don and Michael. His sisters, Teresa, Maureen and Kitly.

He was preceded in death by his parents Michael Joseph and Catherine O’Brien (nee: Cantwell); by his brothers, Jim, Frank, Kenny, Redmond and Michael and by sisters, Margaret and Betty.

Friends may call Monday, October 25, 2004, from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Avenue, Amherst, where funeral services will be at 8 p.m. The Rev. Mr. James Debrason of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church of Lorain, will officiate. Burial will be held privately by the family at Restlawn Cemetery in Huron.
