John W. Stidham, 58, Employed by Lorain Tubular
John W. Stidham, 58, of Lorain, died Saturday October 9, 2004 after a sudden illness.He was born July 17, 1946 in New Boston, Ohio and had resided in Lorain since 1964.
Mr. Stidham worked at Lorain Tubular in the three seamless mill for 39 years and was involved in career development since 1994.
Mr. Stidham was an active member of United Steelworkers Local #1104 serving as the union’s representative on the Lorain Port Authority board, United Way board and the "Do the Right Thing Program". He also held the office of Inside Guard and was entertainment chairman where he scheduled children's activities such as Halloween and Christmas parties.
He was a member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lorain and enjoyed photography and football.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years: Cheyrl (nee Squyres), son: James Stidham and his wife Andrea of Stow, brothers Burt Gambill of Cambridge City, Indiana, Frank Stidham of Goosecreek, North Carolina, Raymond Stidham of Cincinnati and Larry Stidham of Overton, Nevada, sisters: Wanda Nelson of Columbus, Gladys Nolan of Cambridge City, Indiana and Linda Frazier of Elyria and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Elzie and Dorothy (nee Yarnell), sister Carolyn Pennington and brother James Stidham.
The family will receive friends Tuesday 4-8 p.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain and on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 11 a.m. at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 603 Washington Ave., Lorain. The Rev. Jimmy Madsen, co-pastor, wilt officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Township.
