Socrates Tsirikos, 58, Employed by Ford Motor Company

Socrates Tsirikos, age 58, of Lorain, died Friday, October 8, 2004 at his home following a short illness.

He was born August 12, 1946 in Patra, Greece and had been an area resident since 1972, coming from Greece.

He was employed as a Relief Man for the Ford Motor Company for 31 years, retiring this year. Prior to that, he had spent 2 years in the Greek Armed Forces. He had also played professional soccer in Greece.

Mr. Tsirikos was a member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church and its Ahepa Society. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening.

Socrates is survived by his wife of 21 years: Pat (nee Miller); son: Christos Tsirikos at home; daughters: Sandra Matthews of St. Cloud, Fla., Jennifer Friend of Baltimore, MD, Paraskavi Ksirikos at home; 7 grandchildren; sisters: Georgia Amanotiathis of Patra, Greece, Vaso Nalbondis of Athens, Greece, and Elani Mbusha of Patra; and his brother: Panayotis Tsirikos, also of Patra.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Christos and Paraskavi Tsirikos; granddaughter: Erica Friend; and grandson: Cain Matthews.

Visitation will be Monday from 5-9 p.m., with a Trisayion Service at 7:30 p.m. at the Reichlin-Cooley Funeral Home ~ 2920 Broadway Ave. ~ Lorain. Funeral will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church ~ 2000 Tower Blvd. ~ Lorain, with the Rev. Michael Gulgas officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
